The system of Chakras for the western mind is energy that runs along the spine starting at the root or seat of the butt flowing along until it reaches the brain.
We start at the 1st Chakra all so known as; Earth, Root, Muladhara. Its jewels are Bloodstone, Tiger’s Eye, Hematite, Fire Agate, Black Tourmaline.
This is what we know about the Earth, from what Science and NASA or The National Aeronautics and Space Administration https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/earth/ tell us is the Earth is the third planet from the sun and the fifth largest in the solar system. Our home planet is the only planet in our solar system known to harbor living things. The name Earth is at least 1,000 years old. All of the planets, except for Earth, were named after Greek and Roman gods and goddesses. However, the name Earth is an English/German word, which simply means the ground.
Looking at it as the Root, the meaning from dictionary.com meaning http://www.dictionary.com/browse/root the word is a noun described as a part of the body of a plant that develops, typically, from the radicle and grows downward into the soil, anchoring the plant and absorbing nutriment and moisture.

When we meditate at the seat of our being we focus on being safe and secure. Family, values, beliefs, career, are important to feel supported and where we began in our history sits at the core of our anatomy. Health problem arises in these areas when the 1st Chakra area is off or unbalanced; knees, feet, legs, tailbone, and large intestine and colon, as well as the kidneys, blood, and the overall skeletal structure will show signs of weakness or illness. Focusing on grounding the Earth, Root, Muladhara chakra through a prescribed meditation practice can help to begin the process to heal our past, present, and future.
